So I failed to mention in one of my prior posts about Paige's first ballet class recital. Shame on me.
We signed up for the Mommy and Me ballet class last Fall, which is what they offered for Paige's age group. Her ballet teacher was Miss Melanie who was so patient and caring. There was only one other mommy and daughter in our ballet class – Courtney and her little girl, Madeleine.
I enjoyed the classes alright, but the pinnacle for me was seeing her really come to life on stage. Even watching her in the wings as she watched the older {um, 4-year-old} girls and mimicking exactly what they did, brought a huge smile to my face {and memories of my own years of dancing the role of Sugar Plum Fairy in the wings}. And much to Ben's chagrin, I think Paige may have caught the ballerina bug {wink, wink}.
The song we danced to was La La Lu from Lady and the Tramp. Thankfully, Courtney's family filmed the dress rehearsal for us, so we have it for posterity. For some reason, at the time, I couldn't justify buying the DVD?!
After watching her ballet recital, Jack caught the performance bug himself. His "performance" was singing the songs from his Vacation Bible School at church on Sunday. Which sadly, they didn't allow us to film, but I assure you he was pumped and super excited about it!
Next to get him back in the "bright lights", we signed him up for the Young Actors Shrek Summer Camp. He was, again, excited for his chance to perform. He had a huge role as the Pied Piper {which you can view him performing his lines in the second video, where he is the first one to speak}. Video 1 and 3 are the group songs that they performed. In Video 1, he is in the far left group, back row 3rd from the left. In the 3rd video he is in the back, just to the right of the young girl on the far left.
We are going to give soccer a try this Fall, but something tells me that my kids are more ballerina and thespian than athlete and sports fan.
But, only time will tell.
Shannon - This post completely reminds me of Claire. After her first dance recital - I was completely exhausted. I asked Claire (who didn't really seem into the whole dance thing) if she was having fun and she replied very loud and proud..."I love this dance!". I knew then that she had figured out the whole performance thing and loved it! Look forward to watching Paige and Jack as they grow and prosper in whatever they do!
