We have been enjoying our 3 1/2 year old this holiday season. We look forward to Christmas day this year and all of Jack's excitement as his awareness about the holiday has greatly increased. He recently discovered hot chocolate. Even though the way that he drinks it could only be considered a tad above room temperature. Today, he called me from Daddy's cell, on his way home from school, to ask me if he "could have some hot chocolate on this cold, rainy day." How could I resist saying yes? I mean where in the world do they come up with this stuff?
One a side note: Jack has been wanting to wear these dinosaur fleece "jacket pajamas" (as he calls them) since we Skyped with his cousins. The youngest cousin, Chase, was wearing a pair similar to these. He also keeps asking if he can go to Minnesota to see his cousin Chase.
Jack has really been minding his P's and Q's lately.
For as much terrible three trauma as I blogged about a few short months ago with the potty training and sleeping issues, Jack has done a 180 since then. His sleeping has gotten much better, which in turns means a much happier little boy throughout the day. He's been getting good reports at school and we have fully potty trained and never looked back. Not even Pull-Ups at night!
It amazes us each day how much our little sponge is absorbing. Lately, he has really taken to learning letters and is sounding them out. He recognizes letters on billboards and signs and points to them saying, "Mommy it's a K" or whatever letter it is. Sometimes we even have a hard time spying the letter that he sees. He's pretty good when we quiz him and say what letter does (insert word) start with? And we sound it out until he figures it out.
Each month I update our grease board calendar with our monthly meetings, commitments, birthdays, holidays, etc. Jack decided he wanted to help me draw. He started with his usual scribbles and I decided to show him how to write one of his favorite letters. He took it to the next level and wrote the letter about a hundred times or more since then. Can you tell what it is?
Many, many Q's...and boy was he proud of them!
We continue to be amazed and in awe of him. And any day now, we'll be welcoming his sister. Boy, I can't wait to see his reaction to her!
Too cute! Jack can come visit us in Minnesota anytime! This time of year, we would rather be visiting Jack in FL! I am looking forward to the day when Chase grows out of his terrible 3's...just a few weeks into it and he has gotten to be so bad! Very stubborn and insistant on what he wants. Today it took 20 minutes to get him into a pair of pants. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteWe have a elf friend named "Lollipop" He makes Kent behave very well- I am wondering when/if that will rub off. I also LOVE all the Q practice :)
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute. Murray Christmas is so funny. Our elf is yet to be named (LE will likely be old enough to do that next year). And, fortunately, our elf doesn't have to move locations each night....I am going to be worried when I have to do that too next year! How often do parents forget to do that??
ReplyDeletePS - The Christmas present from his favorite Godmother is going to give him a perfect place to practice all those Qs. I'm so proud of him!
