Ready, Set, Go

We are busy making preparations for our family vacation to San Francisco and Sonoma. We are packing for 4 days of 50-60 degree weather in San Francisco and 4 days of 80-90 degree weather in Sonoma. Plus, packing for an infant and a four-year old and all the little accoutrement that go along with little ones (i.e. car seats, strollers, baby carriers, etc.). Needless to say, I am looking forward to the trip itself, but not the schlepping of stuff and stress that will ensue in the process.

Hopefully, Sweet P will be a cooperative little angel and adjust well to the 3-hour time change. Jack is a bit of a seasoned traveler, and hopefully this trip won't be any different than the past ones he has been on. As long as we have a DVD player, he is pretty much good to go though. Wish us luck in our travels and pray that Ben and I don't kill each other when stress levels start to spike.

Golden Gate Bridge and Wine Country, here come the Griswolds!

Okay so the kids are a little old and we aren't driving cross-country, but I have a feeling it won't be far off from their family vacation to Wally World! Hopefully, Aunt Edna won't keel over on us.

Oh, did I mention that the purpose of the trip is for a family reunion to see all of Ben's dad's side of our family? Twenty-six people in all! Two parents, seven siblings, seven spouses and significant others and 10 grandchildren {only missing one, Ben's nephew Nick isn't coming}! That's a lot of people for just one branch of the tree. I'd draw you a diagram, but I wouldn't know where to start. As I mentioned, we will be meeting up with a few in San Fran and exploring the city for the first half of the week. Then the second half of the week we will meet up with the rest of the crew and stay at one big lodge in Sonoma. Should be fun and mass chaos will abound.

You'll be seeing plenty of photos from our trip soon enough.

I'll leave you with a dessert recommendation that will provide a sweet-ending to many of your Summer vacations. Best of all, it is so SIMPLE and EASY to make! It's good old Peach Cobbler.

Hopefully, you can find this mix in your grocery store {I bought mine at Publix on the baking mix aisle}. But if a store near you doesn't sell it, you can buy it online.

Melt butter and pour in the bottom of a small baking dish.

Wisk the mix together with milk. Pour over the butter.

Then top with sliced canned peaches, including the juice. You can use fresh peaches, but this will require that you make a simple syrup.

Bake for 30 minutes and serve warm with vanilla ice cream and voilĂ ! Bon appetit!
