So here is one of my favorite recipes that is always, fast, easy and only requires 4 basic ingredients. It's yummy served hot or room temperature, but always is best if eaten the same day you make it {although we have been known to refrigerate the leftovers, because we can't bear to throw it out, and microwave the next day}.
Sausage Casserole
1 lb. of Jimmy Dean, ground sausage {I use mild, but feel free to experiment with hot, italian, sage or maple}
2 cans of Pillsbury Recipe Creations (or substitute with Pillsbury Crescent Rolls if your grocery store doesn't carry)
1 package of cream cheese, softened and cubed
1/2 c. shredded parmesan cheese
Poppy seeds (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish and layer one can of the crescent rolls in the bottom of the dish (press seams together). Brown and drain sausage. Return sausage to hot pan and mix in cream cheese until melted and well incorporated. Add shredded cheese and mix until melted. Layer sausage mixture over crescent roll. Top with the second can of crescent rolls (press seams together). Top with Poppy seeds and bake according to crescent roll instructions or until brown. Cut and serve warm or room temperature.
The slight sweetness of the crescent rolls and the mild spice of the sausage together with the rich deliciousness of the cream cheese make this a fan-favorite at any special gathering or at home on a lazy weekend!
OMG! This stuff is so delicious. Now I need some sooner than later, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow about a shout-out to Aunt Libby for the recipe?!?
ReplyDeleteActually, I didn't get that recipe from you. Shannon Jackson was the first person to introduce me to it. I added the poppy seeds though from yours! Do love me some Aunt Libby, though!
